The 20th Annual Pig Iron BBQ Challenge featured 35 teams competing to dish out the best barbecue and help raise money for Children’s Harbor.

Presenting Sponsor: Hoover, Alabama
Platinum Level Sponsor: Buffalo Rock Company
Gold Level Sponsor: Northwestern Mutual- Hoover
Kid Zone Sponsor: Flowers Baking Company

Attendees got a chance to sample all types of barbecued meats from each of the booths along with a host of other side dishes. The City of Hoover offered free pie made in a giant pan that was 10 feet, 3 inches in diameter and weighed 2,000 pounds! Team competitions included: Team Tent, BBQ Ribs, Boston Butts and Sauce.

The Hoar Construction team raised $38,428 through their Foundation’s matching program. Owen Moore, spearheaded the campaign and recruited many local companies to donate to the cause. "It’s truly an honor to do this and it’s really the subs and vendors that come through to make this a success. Thank you for all you do for the patients and families of Childrens Hospital," said Owen.
