About the Festival

Located on the serene grounds of Children’s Harbor Chapel and Hank’s Cabin - against the lapping waves of Lake Martin, this year we celebrate the Art on the Lake's 11th festival year! Last year, 47 artisans presented fine arts and handmade crafts to a crowd of more than 5,000 people.

It's free to attend, though a portion of your art purchases help support Children’s Harbor in continuing its mission to provide camp, counseling and support services to seriously ill children and their families.

Art Contest

Each year, a contest is held for the community to help us design the artwork used on t-shirts and other promotional materials. The winning artist will receive two event t-shirts plus a two night stay in Hank’s Cabin at Children's Harbor on Lake Martin.

Let us feature your art

You are invited to submit original artwork or photographs for this year’s Art on the Lake festival. It's a wonderful opportunity to help us share your perspective of how Children's Harbor, the lake and the Art on the Lake festival come together. The winning submission will be printed on the event t-shirt and event materials.

Guidelines

Designs need to capture the relationship between children and/or families and the lake. Submitted artwork does not need to have any wording or the Art on the Lake logo. If selected, wording and logo will be added.

Submit your art.

Submit your art online by April 22, 2017. (Sorry, no exceptions.) If you have any questions, please contact Vicki Tuggle at (334) 857-2021.

Artist Application

Thank you for considering the opportunity to showcase your art to a unique art loving community. Below you will find details on next steps you can take as well as helpful guidelines to help you plan for the festival.

A growing festival with a great cause

Last year, 47 artisans like yourself came together for a great weekend of displaying their artwork, meeting new clients, and raising funds for Children's Harbor. With their help last year, we were able to continue to provide camps, counseling and support services to children with long-term serious illnesses and their families. Thank you for being a part of this year's event. We believe it will be even better than last year!

Preparing for the Festival

To help you prepare for the festival, please review our guidelines for set up and breakdown of your space and other tips that will ensure your weekend goes smoothly. Review details.

Submit your Application

Apply online by April 4th, 2017. Due to limited space, our commitment to maintain a high standard of art and the desire to provide a wide variety of art and crafts for patrons, we ask all interested artists to complete an application, including the submission of three images that represent your artwork and collection. There is no fee to apply.

About Us

Children’s Harbor provides children with serious illnesses and their families a place to be themselves – to have fun and relax – while also receiving no-cost services that make life a bit easier for the whole family.

Strengthening children and families

In 1987, Ben and Luanne Russell began dreaming of building a place for children and families on Lake Martin on property provided by Russell Lands. The dream became a reality in 1989 with the dedication ceremonies for Children's Harbor, a facility with the primary purpose of hosting camping and retreat services through partnering organizations, providing patients and families a place of rest and restoration.

A replica of the Plymouth Lighthouse is a prominent icon of Children’s Harbor at Lake Martin and is visible from the Kowaliga Bridge. The lighthouse symbolizes our goal of helping children and families find their way through the treacherous waters in which they sometimes find themselves.
