The Family Center

The Children’s Harbor Family Center, located within the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children, offers lots of ways for patients and their families to stay active and have fun during their hospital stay.

We encourage patients, siblings and families of Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children to visit Children’s Harbor Family Center for free activities and events. Simply follow the playful blue river floor pattern on Main Street (second floor) until you reach the large compass on the floor of the atrium — or call us at (205) 638-6123.

Coffee Cups and Conversation

Start the week off right! On most Mondays, from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM you're invited to stop by the Family Center for coffee, breakfast and conversation. Check the events page for the weekly schedule.

Thursday Night Getaway

Once a month, families are invited to join around the ”dinner table“ at the Family Center for a good meal and a fun game of bingo at no cost. Check the events page for the schedule.


Anybody Can Dance

No skills required. This once-a-month dance party is all about having fun! Come and learn some new dance moves at the Family Center. Check the events page for the next dance party.

Fun Night

Mondays are made for face painting, games and bingo too. Crafts for kids of various ages and capabilities are also on the agenda. Check the events schedule and follow the river from Main Street to the Family Center.

Lego Party

Once a month, kid of all ages come together to use their imagination and build something awesome at the Lego party. Check the events schedule for the next opportunity to show your lego-building skills.

Lake Martin

For our illness camps, the Children’s Harbor campus on Lake Martin in Alexander City offers many ways for patients and their families to come together and reconnect, often outdoors, in a safe environment for children with health challenges.

Camp Smile-A-Mile

Camp Smile-A-Mile aims to bring together children with cancer in an environment for relaxing, exploring and making new friends who understand and can encourage each other.

AAPVI - Songs of Sight
