Medical Properties Trust, based in Birmingham, Ala., has donated $25,000 to Children’s Harbor’s annual fund. This gift will help fund the 2017 summer camp grants that are essential to providing a place of rest and restoration to seriously ill children and their families – at no charge to the families.

Each summer, Children’s Harbor awards grants to over 25 illness-related non-profits and organizations to use the state-of-the-art, handicap-accessible camping facilities located at our Lake Martin, Ala. location.

“Thanks to the support of organizations like Medical Properties Trust, this summer we’ll be able to host more than two dozen partnering organizations that share our mission to ease the burdens on sick children and their families,” said Myrle Grate, CEO of Children’s Harbor. “We appreciate this generous donation.”

Medical Properties Trust, Inc. is a self-advised real estate investment trust formed to capitalize on the changing trends in healthcare delivery by acquiring and developing net-leased healthcare facilities. MPT’s financing model allows hospitals and other healthcare facilities to unlock the value of their underlying real estate in order to fund facility improvements, technology upgrades, staff additions and new construction. Facilities include acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, and other medical and surgical facilities.
