BIRMINGHAM, AL--Children’s Harbor is pleased to announce it has received a $100,000 grant from The Daniel Foundation of Alabama. The grant will go towards a renovation project that will increase the visibility of the Children’s Harbor Family Center at Children’s of Alabama in order to serve more patients and families, raise awareness of our presence within the hospital, as well as enhance the access to those with disabilities.
The Children’s Harbor Family Center opened in 2001 and is a unique model of service, the scope of which is not duplicated at any other Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the United States. Mrs. Lyndra Daniel was on our Advisory Committee for the Family Center which was instrumental to the building of programs and services that have been provided since 2001. Since that time, approximately 300,000 children and families have used the facility.
“Great partners like the Daniel Foundation allow Children's Harbor to better serve our mission by increasing our exposure at the Children's of Alabama to those patients and families that benefit from the services that we offer as a respite at the most difficult time they are facing. With the Daniel Foundation grant, we continue to be a harbor of comfort, said Myrle Grate, Children’s Harbor Chief Executive Officer.
“We hope our funding serves as an encouragement for other funding. We continue to be excited about being a part of the good work taking place in the communities throughout Alabama,” said Marie Kennedy, Executive Director of the Daniel Foundation.
